We are pleased to share our annual report showcasing MMSW’s program performance, accomplishments and financials for the period January 1 to December 31, 2021. MMSW maintained strong program performance and its ongoing commitment to Saskatchewan recycling programs. This is the second year MMSW is providing an accounting of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with the delivery of recycling services to residents as reported by collection partners.
- More than 40,100 tonnes collected, resulting in a recovery rate of 77.4% (up from 76.5%).
- 6,000 additional households were serviced by the program in 2021. Residential recycling of WPP was provided to 83.9% of Saskatchewan households, which was down from the previous years high of 85.8% due to the refresh of Census data in 2021.
- MMSW also saw a small decrease in kilograms per capita collected, down to 43.4 KG/capita from 44.6.
- Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with province-wide recycling activities totaled 7,173 tonnes of CO2 equivalent, relatively flat to last year’s reporting.
